Bank of Ireland with Mark and Peri of The Whelks

  • Myrtle 134 Waterman Avenue East Providence, RI, 02914 United States (map)

Bank of Ireland is a once a year celebration of the depth and breadth of Irish song, story, and musicianship. Featuring Mark Dobbyn and Peri DeLorenzo (The Whelks) alongside David Christian (Mary Timony, Hospitality) and Lee Godleski (Los Neon Moons, Pale Mara) they take some of the oldest songs in the english language and explore them with an eye towards improvisation. A mix of fiddle tunes, rebel songs, love songs, and murder ballads. Of talking racehorses, jilted lovers, rakes, rovers, and IRA men. No leprechauns or 'kiss me, I'm Irish' nonsense here, this is the real business. Pairs well with pints of stout, straight whiskey, and stalwart friends. May result in feelings of anti-colonialism. Supplies are limited to one weekend a year. Act accordingly. Sláinte.
