Exploding Zones // Dëmonstration Tapes // Future Stories

Exploding Zones formed in 2022 as a trio up until recently adding a second guitar.  Fuzzy basslines and driving drums carry the washes of guitar throughout their live set as well as their two eps.

Formed in early 2019, Providence indie power trio Future Stories sprang from a mindset of sparking dark-yet-danceable joy with only the bare necessities. On their EP “Kill the Business Lights”, driving rhythms, angular melodies and nerdy energy collide to create an introspective, tightly-wound post-punk sound.

Dëmonstration Tapes are four Providence music scene veterans tapping cosmic electromagnetic transmissions for trippy riffs, mesmerizing bass lines, hypnotic rhythms and cryptic lyrics.

Ssa Lin (pronounced like "sullen") is the solo project evolved from Melissa Chaplin Family, a formerly Newport based band. ssa lin turns sad, dark, and "sullen" concepts into beautiful, piano-driven songs that captivate the listener through relatability. Based in Providence, her songs are inspired by different forms of heartbreak, sobriety & self-evolution, artistic struggle, and all the complicated feelings that come with being human navigating our world.

Thin Lear makes cinematic folk-rock songs. His recently released Matthew E. White/Spacebomb-produced EP, A Beach of Nightly Glory, came out this past summer, with features on Apple Music playlists, and pieces in PopMatters, Talkhouse, and Bandcamp Daily; his previous album, Wooden Cave, was lauded by NPR and KEXP, among other outlets, and included on PopMatters' Best Albums of the Year.

Niagara Moon specializes in mellow, baroque indie-pop that combines the intricate melodies of Pet Sounds with the 21st century style of artists like Of Montreal.

John Faraone is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist from Pawtucket, RI. Of his debut album, Rhode Island Monthly writes, “Light Upon is a tender, poetic collection of music, and it was well worth the wait,” and Providence Monthly writes, “John Faraone’s debut album Light Upon is the kind of slow search for clarity, purpose, and quality one would hope a musician undertakes to deliver their work. Whether he realizes it or not, Faraone has found the quality he’s been searching for.”

mssv: mike baggetta + stephen hodges + mike watt

RESERVE TICKETS HERE

mssv, composed of guitarist Mike Baggetta, Stephen Hodges on drums and mike watt on bass, creates music that is a heretofore unimagined hybrid of a punk power-trio and a dreamy experimental rock band, though they prefer the term “post-genre.” Their last full-length album, Human Reaction, finds the oddly memorable hooks of their noir-tinged adventure music with a lot more vocals from Main Steam Stop Valve leader Baggetta, adding more personality than ever before, alongside his bandmates, Hodges and watt, who also share in the vocal duties throughout the album.

With inventively churning drum textures from Hodges (an instantly identifiable sound honed in his days with Tom Waits and David Lynch) and the full-steam-ahead all-in attitude from watt, (as he’s displayed throughout his storied career with MINUTEMEN, fIREHOSE, and The Stooges), there is the impression of “pressure, combustion, power, and hissing clouds of sonic poetry,” as Premier Guitar said. Also evident is the more fearless exploring that comes from a band that has spent a lot of time together crafting their vision, as well as making room for guests like J Mascis, Petra Haden and Nels Cline on some of their previous releases.

Even though Baggetta, who has also worked with David Torn, Jim Keltner, Psychic Temple, Jeff Coffin, Henry Kaiser, Rev. Fred Lane, and Viktor Krauss among many others, wrote all the songs specifically for these bandmates to play, there’s no telling which way the band will turn at any given moment, a proposition that becomes a promise when they break down and reassemble these songs live, with an instinct for restraint and an openness to anarchy.

mssv's 3rd full-length studio album comes out Spring 2025 on BIG EGO Records.
