MYRTLE
Made in East Providence, Rhode Island
DRINKS | MUSIC | VINTAGE
Myrtle is a neighborhood bar, music venue, and vintage store located at 134 Waterman Ave, in East Providence, Rhode Island. We offer a wide selection of classic and seasonal cocktails, beer, and wine. Stop in any time and you might catch a live show. Jazz, bluegrass, folk, indie rock, soul and more—we do it all, and shows are free. Explore our shop and discover treasures at vendor events, and propose your own show, pop-up, party, or rental.
We’ve been dreaming of this space for over a decade. While working in bars and restaurants, we toured the country as performing artists, making connections with other amazing artists, musicians, and venue owners. With Myrtle, we want to give back to the friends and patrons who have supported us so much over the years. We look forward to seeing you!

Lower East Providence Music & Arts Society
Myrtle is located in the East Providence Arts District, and our production efforts help to validate and set the standard for what “arts” looks like in East Providence. To that end, we work collaboratively with other businesses along the Warren Avenue and Waterman Avenue business corridors, to ensure a sense of inclusion and mutual benefit for both major business corridors in the East Providence Arts District. We recognize that for the Arts District to be truly perceived as such, it requires an arts presence. We serve as a springboard for artists to think of the area as a corridor and a potential space for them to create. Our performances and markets have brought many people, and those seeing East Providence for the first time or in a new light, have started to express interest in becoming businesses here and occupying empty storefronts.
We often provide stage time to musicians just starting out - giving a potential performance space for youth who aspire to be professional musicians. We’ve also proven our ability to bring visitors from untapped markets in the East Bay and southeastern Mass through our almost-daily free performances, bringing in over 1000 patrons each week into the vicinity, increasing visibility and sales for our neighboring hospitality businesses.
As we grow our mission, we look to grow performance opportunities to artists through expanding programming at Myrtle, as well as producing free shows at other small venues and public events throughout New England.
Monthly and annual member donations provide a stable operational stream for arts organizations like ours, allowing us to plan long-term initiatives, invest in artistic development, and consistently deliver programs, while also fostering a deeper connection between donors and the arts community through sustained support.
Since opening, Myrtle has provided over 700 free performances and events to the Lower East Providence community and beyond. Located in the center of the East Providence Arts District, Myrtle has become a destination for New England musicians, touring artists, and supporters of the arts. In order to sustain our mission of bringing free and accessible performance to our community, we offer Music & Arts Society Memberships to those with the same vision of a flourishing arts community in the Bay Area.
New and existing members receive:
*Invitations to monthly Society Member events
*A first look at upcoming events
*First pick and 1/2 off all ticketed events
*Monthly newsletter with all arts events happening in the area
*Discounted room rental rates
All funds raised from member dues go directly to supporting performing artists, as well as our resident artist program.
